HeRISA’s Take on recruitment for research and clinical trials

As shown above, minority communities clearly have issues in taking part research studies and clinical trials. Research has highlighted the major barriers of minority recruitment into research and clinical trials. Similarly, solutions have been put forward to improve the participation of minorities and recent immigrants. Somali-Americans share these problems with other minority communities and some of the solutions are also applicable to them particularly those included in the above Table such as
consulting representative community members to provide assistance, ensuring that eligibility criteria are appropriate, developing culturally and educationally appropriate recruitment strategies and using appropriate and effective means of promotion.

HeRISA and its team are willing to facilitate in our efforts to improve the recruitment processes for both research and clinical trials for Somali-Americans as race is important.
